Mariana Nascimento, Uraia’s coordinator was invited to present the platform’s activities at the World Resources Institute (WRI) 2016 Construction Summit that took place in São Paulo last 15 of June. She took part in a round-table debate on “technologies and funding for infrastructures and services” alongside the President of the Instituto de Tecnologia de Software (ITS), the Development Director of SPUrbanismo from the municipality of São Paulo, a representative of the Brazilian National Bank of Development (BNDES) and a representative from the WRI. The presentation of Uraia’s coordinator focused how SMART technologies can positively impact municipal finances. The examples mentioned included tools such as: mobile money, initiatives to increase transparency and citizen participation, energy efficiency policies, smart parking, smart water and waste management, among others. Participants of the workshop included representatives of local governments and private sectors representatives.
